Fresh Back from Europe: My Journey Through London, Amsterdam, & Paris

There's something truly magical about Europe. Every city has its own personality, history, and culture, making each stop feel like a completely different adventure. I recently returned from an incredible journey through London, Amsterdam, and Paris, and I came home with unforgettable memories, practical travel tips, and even more excitement about helping my clients experience these amazing destinations for themselves.

If Europe has been on your bucket list, here's a look at my journey … and why these three cities make the perfect itinerary for a first (or fifth!) European vacation.

London: Royal History Meets Modern Charm

My European adventure began in London, where we stayed at the beautiful Rubens at the Palace, located just steps from Buckingham Palace. The hotel's location couldn't have been more perfect, making it easy to explore many of London's most famous attractions on foot while enjoying classic British hospitality.

One of my favorite experiences was participating in a Changing of the Guard Walking Tour. Watching this centuries-old tradition unfold while learning about the history of the British monarchy gave me a whole new appreciation for London's rich heritage.

Just a short walk away, we explored the magnificent Westminster Abbey, one of England's most historic churches and the site of royal coronations and weddings for generations. Afterwards, we wandered through the beautiful pathways of St. James's Park, one of London's most picturesque green spaces, offering stunning views of Buckingham Palace.

No visit to London would be complete without experiencing the Tower of London. Arriving early for the Beefeater Opening Ceremony made the visit even more memorable, and seeing the Crown Jewels in person was every bit as spectacular as I imagined.

As evening approached, we boarded the London Eye using a Fast-Track ticket. Watching London transform as the city lights illuminated the skyline was one of the most memorable moments of the trip. Seeing landmarks like Big Ben, Westminster, and the River Thames from above offered an entirely different perspective of the city.

Of course, I couldn't leave London without walking across the iconic Tower Bridge, enjoying a leisurely stroll along the Thames River Walk, and spending time exploring the colorful streets, charming homes, and unique boutiques of Notting Hill.

One of the highlights of my visit was experiencing Afternoon Tea at The Ritz. From the elegant dining room to the impeccable service and delicious pastries, it truly lived up to its world-famous reputation.

The trip was also filled with wonderful meals. We enjoyed classic British hospitality at The Clarence Pub and an exceptional dinner at The English Grill, located inside The Rubens at the Palace.

Amsterdam: Relaxed, Scenic, and Full of Character

From London, we boarded the Eurostar, traveling beneath the English Channel through the famous Chunnel before arriving in Amsterdam. Traveling by high-speed rail was incredibly easy, comfortable, and one of my favorite parts of visiting multiple European cities — something I always recommend to my clients when planning a European itinerary.

In Amsterdam, I stayed at the elegant De L'Europe Amsterdam, a beautiful luxury hotel perfectly situated along one of the city's iconic canals. Its central location made it easy to explore many of Amsterdam's most famous neighborhoods on foot.

One of the best ways to experience Amsterdam is from the water, and our Luxury Canal Cruise did not disappoint. Floating through the city's historic canals while admiring centuries-old architecture offered a completely different perspective of Amsterdam's beauty.

We also spent time wandering through the charming Nine Streets (De Negen Straatjes), one of Amsterdam's most beloved shopping districts. Filled with independent boutiques, cafés, art galleries, and specialty shops, it's the perfect place to spend an afternoon exploring.

A visit to the Van Gogh Museum was another unforgettable experience. Seeing the artist's masterpieces in person while learning about his life and artistic journey added a meaningful cultural element to the trip.

One of my favorite excursions was visiting Zaanse Schans, a picturesque Dutch village known for its working windmills, traditional wooden clog demonstrations, and delicious Dutch cheese. It offered a wonderful glimpse into the Netherlands' rich cultural traditions and was well worth the short trip outside the city.

Evenings in Amsterdam were just as memorable as the sightseeing. We enjoyed cocktails at Flying Dutchmen Cocktails, rooftop dining with panoramic city views at Amano Rooftop Bar, waterfront dining at Sails & Spirits, an elegant dinner at The Duchess, and an extraordinary Michelin-starred experience at Restaurant Flore, where every course was a work of art.

Paris: Romance, Art, and Timeless Beauty

After Amsterdam, we continued our European adventure by train to Paris, arriving in one of the world's most iconic cities. We stayed at the beautiful Hôtel Dame des Arts, located in the heart of the Latin Quarter. The hotel's location made it easy to explore Paris on foot while enjoying charming cafés, beautiful architecture, and vibrant neighborhoods.

One of the highlights of our visit was a guided tour of the Louvre Museum, where I admired masterpieces including the Mona Lisa while learning about the museum's incredible history and world-renowned collection.

Of course, no trip to Paris would be complete without visiting the Eiffel Tower. Going all the way to the Summit provided breathtaking panoramic views of the City of Light and was an experience I'll never forget.

We also took a day trip by train to the magnificent Palace of Versailles, where we toured the lavish royal apartments, the famous Hall of Mirrors, and the beautifully landscaped gardens that stretch for miles.

Paris also delivered unforgettable dining experiences. Dinner at the Michelin-starred Le Tout Paris offered incredible cuisine paired with spectacular city views, while Au Bon Accueil provided a charming Parisian atmosphere and delicious French classics.

One of the most magical evenings of the entire trip was aboard a Bateaux Parisiens Seine River Gourmet Dinner Cruise. Cruising past illuminated landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame, and the Louvre while enjoying an exceptional dinner was the perfect way to experience Paris after dark.
